N.J. Police Hand Out 250 Turkeys to Families in Need for Thanksgiving
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — Members of the city's Police Department and Police Athletic League gave away 250 turkeys Monday to families in need, police said.
Among those who participated were Chief James Sarkos, Deputy Chiefs Christian Garofalo and Andrew Leonard, Capt. Alexus Zelinger, Lt. Willie Santiago, neighborhood coordination officers, patrol officers and Tourism District officers, police said Tuesday in a news release.
The turkey distribution was supported by contributions from D'Arcy Johnson Day Lawyers and Goldenberg & Mackler, police said.
The Salvation Army served hot chocolate to attendees, while the Atlantic City Free Public Library donated winter hats and gloves. Tanger Outlets provided stuffing, and Casel's Marketplace of Margate donated canned goods, police said.
