A father tried to use his 13-year-old son as a shield as he was being tased, Texas deputies said.
Deputies were called to the Houston home May 9 after a disturbance was reported, the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office said in a May 12 Facebook post.
They found the father inside a residence and he tried to close the door on them, deputies said. Authorities said they got into the home, but the dad refused to listen to commands, so they used a taser to try and detain him.
McClatchy News is not naming the suspect to protect the identity of his child.
The man was being tased when he grabbed his 13-year-old son and tried to pull the child’s body between him and the taser, the constable’s office said.
The teen was not injured and the parent was arrested and charged with child endangerment. Additionally, he had an open felony warrant on a charge of continuous family violence in the county, deputies said.
He’s held in jail on a $12,000 bond, deputies said. Child Protective Services has been contacted.
