To detain a combative suspect in a domestic disturbance, Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office deputies began tasing the man, who tried to pull his 13-year-old son between him and the Taser.

A father tried to use his 13-year-old son as a shield as he was being tased, Texas deputies said.

Deputies were called to the Houston home May 9 after a disturbance was reported, the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office said in a May 12 Facebook post.

They found the father inside a residence and he tried to close the door on them, deputies said. Authorities said they got into the home, but the dad refused to listen to commands, so they used a taser to try and detain him.

McClatchy News is not naming the suspect to protect the identity of his child.

The man was being tased when he grabbed his 13-year-old son and tried to pull the child’s body between him and the taser, the constable’s office said.
