Georgia Sheriff's Deputy Killed in Cruiser Crash While Responding to Call

Bibb County Sheriff's Deputy Kenterrous Taylor died after being thrown from his cruiser following a crash early Wednesday morning.

MACON, Georgia -- A Bibb County Sheriff's deputy died after being thrown from his cruiser following a crash early Wednesday morning.

Deputy Kenterrous Taylor was responding to a burglary call on Zebulon Road when he crashed near the Rivoli Crossing Shopping Center shortly after 1:30 a.m., hitting a wall and flipping several times, according to WMAZ-TV.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says the wreck occurred near the intersection of Forsyth Road and Napier Avenue.

The 27-year-old deputy, whose father worked with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office for more than 20 years, was ejected from his cruiser. He was pronounced dead on scene.

"In this particular case, he was off-duty, and the call came out, and he responded and tragically lost his life," Bibb County Sheriff David Davis told reporters.

The crash is currently under investigation.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
