A man was arrested after he plowed through a crowd of people in Times Square Thursday, killing one and injuring more than a dozen others.
Officials said that the 26-year-old suspect tried to strike an officer as he was taken into custody following the deadly crash that left 19 people injured, according to Newsday.
Sources cited by the newspaper identified the suspect as Richard Rojas, who had two previous DWI arrests. The sources said he was going 90 mph in the 50 mph zone at one point and that terror is not expected.
A maroon sedan could be seen at rest with two of its wheels in the air, on top of short steel poles.
The incident is currently under investigation.
