West Virginia Trooper Shot and Wounded

Cpl. David Fry was shot and wounded while responding to a domestic situation and the suspected gunman was taken into custody Tuesday.

A West Virginia State trooper was shot and wounded while responding to a domestic situation and the suspected gunman was taken into custody Tuesday morning.

Cpl. David Fry was shot in the shoulder, hand and leg after officials say Jeremiah Yeager opened fire at an apartment on Midway Road in near the Kanawha-Lincoln County line around 2 a.m., according to WSAZ-TV.

Fry was able to drive himself to a Wal-Mart in Southridge where he was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his wounds. His injuries are not considered to be life threatening.

After the officer was shot, a standoff ensued. A robot was then sent in and made contact with the suspect, who was hiding.

Yeager surrender but tried to hide a handgun and got into a struggle with troopers during his arrest. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

A woman was inside the apartment at the time of the domestic dispute call was injured and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The incident is currently under investigation.
