Ohio Trooper Accidentally Shoots Himself
HEATH, OHIO -- A State Highway Patrol trooper accidentally shot himself in the leg inside the Heath Police station Wednesday night.
The male trooper's injury was non-life threatening, said Lt. Robert Sellers, spokesman for the patrol.
Sellers confirmed that the trooper was taken by helicopter to a Columbus hospital for treatment. He would not release the trooper's name.
The trooper was putting his weapon into his holster when it accidentally discharged about 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sellers said.
Sellers said he does not know what caused the gun to fire. He said the incident will be reviewed internally by the patrol.
