A Cuyahoga County deputy was involved in a shooting at a shopping center in Cleveland Monday morning.
Officials said that the deputy witnessed a street robbery and tried to intervene at the Galleria on East 9th Street around 8:30 a.m. when the shooting occurred, according to WEWS-TV.
Cleveland Police Deputy Chief Ed Tomba said that the suspect was armed, but wouldn't say if he fired his gun.
The deputy fired at the suspect, hitting him in the leg. The suspect was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.
The deputy was not injured in the incident.
Two robbery victims were being interviewed by investigators.
