An Ohio deputy and a civilian were shot and wounded Thursday night and the suspected gunman was taken into custody early Friday morning following a seven-hour manhunt.
The Warren County Sheriff's deputy responded to a domestic disturbance report at the Orchards of Landen apartment complex around 9:45 p.m. when officials say 19-year-old Mohammed Abdou Laghaoui opened fire, according to WCPO-TV.
The gunman also shot a civilian before he fled the scene.
The injured deputy was reportedly awake and talking after being transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and was released shortly before 4 a.m. The wounded civilian sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
A shelter-in-place order was issued for the area as authorities launched a manhunt for Laghaoui. A Blue Alert also was issued for all of southwest Ohio around 2 a.m.
The shelter-in-place order lasted until just before 5 a.m. when Laghaoui returned to his apartment where deputies were waiting for him. He told them he had thrown his weapon in a lake and surrendered.
