Los Angeles Sheriff's Deputy Trapped in Crash

A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy had to be rescued after becoming trapped inside her cruiser following a crash Sunday morning.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy had to be rescued after becoming trapped inside her cruiser following a crash Sunday morning.

The deputy was responding to an "audible alarm" call for service around 10:50 a.m. when an elderly woman driving a Lexus sedan struck her patrol vehicle while driving through the intersection of Telegraph Road and Valley View Boulevard, according to a sheriff's department news release.

The force of the collision caused the patrol vehicle to strike a signal pole, trapping the deputy inside.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded and extricated the deputy before transporting the six-year veteran of the force to a local hospital for treatment. She remains in stable condition.

The woman who struck the cruiser was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
