Officer Critical After Escort for Fallen Agent

Grenada Reserve Officer Kenny Engle was critically injured in a crash Saturday night while escorting the motorcade for fallen Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Agent Lee Tartt.

A police officer from Grenada, Mississippi was critically injured in a crash Saturday night while escorting the motorcade for fallen Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Agent Lee Tartt.

Officials said that Reserve Officer Kenny Engle was blocking traffic on I-55 around 10:24 p.m. on his police-issued Harley Davidson motorcycle when he pulled into traffic and somehow hit the back of a stationary vehicle that was pulled over on the shoulder, according to The Clarion Ledger.

Engle, who was wearing his helmet when he was thrown from his motorcycle, was flown to the University of Mississippi Medical Center's Grenada where he was listed in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

Engle has been a Grenada reserve officer since 2002.
