A Fargo, North Dakota police officer shot during an hours-long standoff Wednesday night is not expected to survive his wounds.
Officer Jason Moszer was shot by a suspect during a standoff at just blocks from the police department at 308 9th Avenue North that began as a domestic disturbance call but quickly escalated, according to The Forum.
As of 6:09 a.m., officials said the 8-hour-long standoff had been resolved and that there was no longer a threat to the public.
Deputy Chief Joe Anderson said early Thursday morning that while he wasn't aware if the 33-year-old officer had died, he said that he "won't pull through."
It would be only the second law enforcement line of duty death in the city's history.
"Tonight we're losing a brother, one of our fellow officers," Police Chief David Todd said at a 2 a.m. press conference.
Moszer, a six-year veteran of the force graduated in 2001 from Fargo South High School and from North Dakota State University in 2009. In 2012, Moszer and fellow Officer Matthew Sliders were awarded the police department’s Silver Star Medal for pulling two children out of an apartment fire.
Officials said that a funeral for Moszer is expected to take place late next week.
