A uniformed police officer attending a class at a Georgia college was ask to leave the room last week because he was armed.
The professor at Darton State College was reportedly uncomfortable with a gun in the classroom and asked for the officer to be escorted out on Jan. 27, according to WALB-TV.
College officials have since apologized to the officer and have met with faculty members to go over state law and the school's policies.
"Darton State College is appreciative for the service of our law enforcement, and welcome them as students on our campus," Interim Provost Dr. Thomas Ormond said in a statement. "We have apologized to the officer for our misunderstanding when he attended class on our campus, and we regret this happened."
