Ohio Police Sergeant Shot; Suspect Killed
A police sergeant in Richmond Heights, Ohio was shot in the chest and the suspected gunman was killed Sunday night.
Officers responded to a home on Geraldine Avenue around 7 p.m. for a report of a suicidal man, according to WEWS-TV.
Officials said that 46-year-old Carlumandarlo Zaramo spoke with the officers inside the home and greed to be transported to a local hospital. As he gathered his clothing, he took out a gun and shot a sergeant in the upper right chest
Richmond Heights Police Chief Gene Rowe said the office was shot in the chest and was not wearing a bulletproof vest.
The 19-year veteran was transported to Hillcrest Hospital in serious but stable condition.
A second officer inside the home returned fire, killing Zaramo.
The incident is currently under investigation.
