Body Cam Shows Officer Shoot at Oncoming SUV

Sand Springs Police Officer Matt Stacy fired twice as a suspect aimed a stolen SUV directly at him.

A Sand Springs, Oklahoma police officer's body camera captured a shooting involving an oncoming vehicle last week.

Officer Matt Stacy was attempting to stop 41-year-old Stacey Ann Bunsey, who was driving a stolen vehicle through the parking lot of Northwood Fine Arts Academy on Nov. 6, according to KJRH-TV.

Officials said that Bunsey, who is accused of stealing the vehicle from Don Thornton Cadillac in Tulsa, aimed the vehicle at the officer before he fired two rounds at her.

Stacy had intended to set up spike strips to stop the vehicle but was unable to because the suspect was driving towards the entrance of the parking lot and his patrol vehicle.

"When it became apparent to the officer of the suspect’s intent, he fired his weapon after shouting twice for the suspect to stop," the department said in a statement.

The incident did not involve the school, which was over one tenth of a mile away.

Police had to use a Taser on Bunsey before she was taken into police custody and arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding an officer, assault and battery with a deadly weapon on an officer, DUI drugs first offense and resisting arrest.

Stacy was transported to the hospital with minor injuries following the incident.
