An Indiana State Police trooper was seriously injured after his cruiser was struck by a tractor-trailer early Wednesday morning.
Trooper Brant Groubeaux made a U-turn on State Road 10 just east of 1100 West in Jasper County in pursuit of a violator around 5:20 a.m. with his emergency lights, according to a news release.
Curtis H. Jackson, who was driving a semi loaded with 20,000 pounds of empty wooden spools, was unable to avoid the patrol car and hit the driver's door, pushing the police car into the east bound lanes where they both came to rest.
Goubeaux was trapped inside his police car and had to be extricated. He was flown to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois with serious non-life threatening lower extremity injuries.
Jackson was not injured in the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
