A Garvin County, Oklahoma Sheriff's deputy found himself trapped inside his cruiser Tuesday after coming under attack, not by criminals, but by massive swarm of bees.
Deputy Carl Zink responded after witnesses reported seeing a tractor-trailer turned over on I-35 shortly after 1 p.m., according to KFOR-TV.
To Zink's surprise, the truck was carrying millions of honeybees and he became trapped after his cruiser became covered by the insects.
The deputy was forced to wait until the bees cleared so that he could safely drive away and besides suffering one sting, he escaped uninjured.
It took hours before beekeepers cleared the scene. They were able to save several hundred thousand bees.
Officials said that the truck driver was sent to local hospital with minor injuries and was later released.
As a safety precaution, a fire was lit at the scene after officials were informed that bees become more aggressive at night.
The crash involving the tractor-trailer is currently under investigation.
