Two Florida Officers Struck; Driver Arrested

St. Petersburg police officers on the scene of a DUI crash were injured early Monday morning after another suspected drunken driver slammed into two cruisers.

Two police officers in St. Petersburg on the scene of a DUI crash were injured early Monday morning after another suspected drunken driver slammed into two cruisers.

The officers were in their vehicles processing the crash that occurred earlier at 24th Avenue North and 4st Street North when a driver struck both police cruisers around 3:35 a.m., according to WFTS-TV.

Officials said that 41-year-old Raymond Richardson refused medical treatment and was arrested. Both of the officers were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and were listed in stable condition. One officer had neck and back injuries while the other suffered neck injuries.

Richardson faces charges of DUI, careless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia.
