Two Houston police officers are uninjured and two suspects are in custody after shots were fired at them from a moving car early Tuesday morning.

Police officials told KHOU-TV that the incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. in the 6400 block of Hillcroft Avenue.

Officers Falcone and Salamanca were in the area and heard a gunshot when witnesses directed them to an alley behind the Principe Azul nightclub.

Officials said the officers then saw a flash of a muzzle on the passenger side of a white Chevrolet Impala that was driving directly at them in the alleyway. Both officers each fired at least one shot as shots were fired back at them.

No one was injured in the shootout and the suspects' vehicle was found by police about a half of a mile away with a gun inside. Both suspects fled on foot and were soon located by officers and taken into custody.

A motive is being sought for the shooting and the incident remains under investigation.
