An Oklahoma City woman was arrested after police said she made a false 911 call to try to distract a police officer during a traffic stop.
Rosetta Grate, 38, was arrested on complaints of making a false 911 call, obstructing an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
About 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, an officer noticed the tag light on a pickup was out and stopped the driver near 28 NW 23.
Grate, who was a passenger in the vehicle, originally lied to police about her identity, the report stated. She got out of the pickup and told the officer there was a domestic situation involving her father around the corner. While the officer was checking her information, dispatchers advised that someone had called 911 to report a shooting in the 600 block of Culbertson Drive.
The officer suspected Grate might have called 911 to try to distract the officer from completing the traffic stop. When the officer dialed the phone number that the 911 call came from, the officer's phone number showed up on a phone Grate was holding.
The people who lived at the residence on Culbertson Drive where the shooting was reported told police they had not called 911 and no one was hurt. Officers determined the 911 call had been bogus.
The officer found two crack pipes with a white residue that field tested positive for cocaine base in Grate's purse, police said.
