A Klamath County, Ore. Sheriff's deputy was shot during a traffic stop Wednesday and two suspects were arrested early Thursday morning.
Deputy Jason Weber was shot in the face and side after pulling over a Jeep Grand Cherokee on Bisbee Street in Klamath Falls shortly before noon, KOIN-TV.
The 7-year veteran of the agency was put in the back of a police vehicle and transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center. Later in the afternoon, he was flown to Oregon Health and Science University in Portland and was listed in serious but stable condition.
"Deputy Weber is with his family at Oregon Health Sciences University currently undergoing surgery under the care of seven physicians and is in serious but stable condition," Klamath County Sheriff Frank Skrah said in a statement. "The family knows that the thoughts and prayers of the community go out to them at this difficult time."
Officials said that after shots were fired, the deputy was able to take cover and radio for help, but did not have time to draw his weapon during the incident. The suspects in the shooting then fled the scene/
Following a manhunt, William Jack Parkerson was charged with attempted aggravated murder with a firearm and assault in the first degree with a firearm. A few hours later, Karey Leigh Pascoe was also arrested on similar charges.
The incident is currently under investigation.
