OGDEN -- A 36-year-old woman was arrested Sunday afternoon after police said she used a knife to threaten her boyfriend into giving her his belongings.

Police say Genifer Jaimez, of Ogden, was arguing with her boyfriend in their apartment over his iPod and phone when she pulled out a 12-inch knife and told him that she was going to cut off his finger if he did not let her have his things.

The boyfriend then ran away from her in fear for his life, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Jaimez allegedly chased after her boyfriend, whose name was not released, but was stopped by a mutual friend, who was in the apartment at the time. The mutual friend told police that Jaimez tried to stab him with the same knife.

Jaimez eventually left the apartment and was found by police walking near 2700 North and Washington Boulevard. When the officer tried to stop her she ignored his commands. He then noticed a knife in the right side of her cargo pants pocket.

The officer wrote that he then tried to grab the knife, but she swatted it away. "She yelled, 'That's my knife, don't touch it!'" She pulled the knife out of her pocket, held it in the air and appeared to be swinging it towards the officer, he wrote.

Fearing for his life, the arresting officer tackled Jaimez to the ground.

Still resisting, "I was able to hold (Jaimez) down until other officers arrived on scene to assist me in placing her into custody."

The woman was found with a broken glass pipe, in the coat pocket she was wearing, described as long and with burn residue on it. She was also found with an iPod and a phone, which match those that were taken in the robbery, reports stated.

Jaimez was booked into the Weber County Jail on charges of aggravated robbery; a first-degree felony, an assault against a police officer; a second-degree felony, use or possession or drug paraphernalia and interference with arresting officer; both class B misdemeanors

Her initial appearance is scheduled for Aug. 26, 2014 at 8:30 a.m.
