A 48-year-old Gettysburg man struck a borough police car after a traffic stop on July 19, according to state police in Gettysburg.
The driver, whose name was not immediately available, crashed a 1996 Dodge Dakota into a 2000 Ford Windstar parked in a lot along Legion Alley shortly after 12 a.m., police said. He then drove away from the scene travelling north on South Washington Street.
Borough Police Officer Katherine Sass responded and attempted to stop the Dodge's driver near Middle Street. When he continued driving, she pulled her 2013 Ford Police Interceptor in front of him.
The Dodge struck the Interceptor, causing moderate damage to the rear passeger-side body and window, said Gettysburg Borough Police Chief Joe Dougherty. Neither Sass nor the Dodge's driver were injured.
Dougherty was unsure Monday morning how long the vehicle would be out of commission or how much the repairs might cost.
He expects the crash will have little impact on police operations.
