LANCASTER, S.C. -- Police in Lancaster are looking for a suspect accused of injuring two city police officers.
Tyzhe Lashown Hough, 19, is wanted on attempted murder, along with other charges, following the Sunday afternoon incident, according to a press release.
Around 3:20 p.m., officers arrived at a crash scene at South Market Street and Chesterfield Avenue. Hough was identified as the driver of one of the vehicles, the release states.
An officer told Hough to get out of the car because of a "strong odor of marijuana," but Hough refused. He then fled the scene.
As he left, one of the officers was reaching inside Hough's car and was struck as Hough drove away. Another officer was struck by the car and knocked to the street, according to the release.
One of the officers got into his car and followed Hough, who lost control of his car and crashed on Beacon Road. He then fled on foot. The officer's injuries prevented him from following.
The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office set up a perimeter and a tracking team and helicopter from the State Law Enforcement Division were used, but couldn't locate Hough.
Both officers were taken to Springs Memorial Hospital, where they were treated for injuries, which were significant, but not life-threatening.
Hough is described as 6-foot, 2-inches tall, weighing 130 pounds. He lives on Henderson Road in Lancaster. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call (803) 283-1173 or (803) 289-6040.
