A Minnesota State Patrol trooper suffered minor injuries after a vehicle hit his squad in St. Paul, the State Patrol said Saturday.
Troopers were called to check a stalled vehicle that was blocking the left lane for the eastbound Interstate 94 ramp to southbound U.S. 61.
No one was inside the vehicle.
Trooper Jack Tiegs was stopped by the vehicle with the squad car's emergency lights activated when a driver rear-ended the squad at 3:23 a.m. Saturday, the State Patrol said.
Tiegs and the driver of the other car, Jay Binnebose, were treated at Regions Hospital for minor injuries and released, the State Patrol said.
Alcohol was detected in Binnebose's system and was a factor in the crash, according to the State Patrol.
Binnebose, 46, of Maplewood, was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired, a State Patrol spokesman said. Binnebose couldn't be reached for comment Saturday.
