CONCORD, Calif. -- A Concord woman who was under the influence of alcohol drove into her own arrest Wednesday, veering her car into the path of a police officer responding to an emergency call, authorities said.
The officer was driving north on Oak Grove Road with his lights and sirens on at about 12:40 p.m. when a 2014 Ford Fiesta made an illegal left turn in front of him and was broadsided, officials said.
Investigators responding to the scene determined that the Ford driver, 45-year-old Concord resident Margaret Collins, was intoxicated at the time of the crash, said police Lt. Ivan Menchaca.
Collins, who was not injured, was booked into jail on suspicion of driving under the influence and later released.
The unidentified officer was taken to a hospital as a precaution, where he was treated and released.
