Two men have been killed and and eight people wounded in shootings since Sunday afternoon on the South, West and Southwest sides, authorities said.
In the most recent killing, 27-year-old man was fatally shot in the 6200 block of South Francisco Avenue, Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said. The man was shot multiple times about 10 p.m. and pronounced dead at Holy Cross Hospital, Gaines said.
About 8:50 p.m., a 31-year-old man was shot multiple times in the 9600 block of South Brennan Avenue, according to Gaines. The man was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to police.
In the most recent shooting, a 19-year-old man was shot about 2:10 a.m. in a robbery in the 1200 block of West 93rd Street, police said.
Police said the shooter approached and announced a robbery as the 19-year-old was stepping out of a vehicle. The shooter took the 19-year-old's cell phone, shot the man in the foot and fled, police said. The 19-year-old was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, where he was listed in good condition.
In another overnight shooting, a 28-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 4300 block of WEst 15th Street, according to police. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condtion was stabilized. It was not immediately clear what time the shooting happened.
A 15-year-old boy was shot about 7:45 p.m. in the 100 block of East 37th Street, according to police. The boy was shot in the head and taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, Gaines said.
In the Austin neighborhood on the city's West Side about 8 p.m., two men were shot in the 400 block of South Lotus Avenue, according to police and Chicago Fire Department officials.
The men, who are 22 and 35, were standing in a group when a vehicle pulled up and someone started shooting, police said.
The younger man was shot in the chest and the older man in the arm, police said. Their conditions were stabilized at Loretto Hospital.
Earlier in the Bridgeport neighborhood, a 25-year-old man was shot in the head at 5:42 p.m. in the 900 block of West 32nd Place, neighborhood according to police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
That man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition, Zala said.
In the Fernwood neighborhood on the Far South Side at 2 p.m. in the 10100 block of South Emerald Avenue, a 19-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the left leg, according to Zala. His condition had stabilized.
The South Deering neighborhood was the scene of another shooting at 1:49 p.m. in the 10000 block of South Yates Avenue when a 30-year-old man was shot in the buttocks and left arm, Zala said.
He was taken in good condition to Advocate Trinity Hospital, said Zala.
