BLOOMINGTON, Calif. -- A California Highway Patrol officer was hospitalized after a head-on collision late Monday night.

Marco Antonio Aguilar, 21, of Bloomington was arrested after fleeing the scene of the accident.

The crash happened around 8:48 PM at the intersection of Slover and Cedar Avenues, CHP officials said.

As a patrol officer was making a left turn from Cedar to Slover Avenue he was struck by the white Ford truck head-on, officials added.

After the driver of the truck allegedly struck the patrol car, he then crashed into a San Bernardino County Sheriff's radar trailer and eventually stopped when the truck crashed head-on into a big rig.

CHP officials say the driver got out of the white pickup truck and fled the scene of the crash on foot.

He was later arrested at his Bloomington home, CHP officials said.

Officials have not released the name of the man driving the white pickup truck, but said he is being booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and felony hit-and-run.

The condition of the officer at the time of this report was unknown.
