A stolen vehicle chase that began outside a Kentucky police station last month ended with a crash and one of the suspects tracked down by a K-9.

The July 8 pursuit happened just before 11:45 p.m. when a Covington police officer spotted a car with no license plates that had been reported stolen, WLWT-TV reports. The suspects fled in the vehicle and eventually crashed after running into other vehicles along the way.

Following the crash, police detained a woman, while two other suspects fled on foot. As they were fleeing, one of the suspect's tossed a stolen gun behind a garbage can, which was caught on a security camera.

A K-9 team responded to the scene, and a lost shoe was used to pick up the scent of a suspect. The K-9 then tracked down a suspect, identified as Dante Reed, and helped take him into custody.

The other suspect who had discarded the gun remains at large. Police are still trying to identify that individual.

Reed, who was on probation in Hamilton County, faces multiple charges, including fleeing police and marijuana possession.
