A California police K-9 was deployed to help end a standoff with a carjacking suspect Monday.

The incident happened around 7 a.m. when the Anaheim Police Department received a report of a carjacking, KABC-TV reports. Officers quickly located the vehicle, and the suspect tried to outrace authorities.

When the suspect wouldn't pull over, an officer performed a PIT maneuver. After the vehicle stopped, the suspect refused to get out, and a standoff ensued.

A K-9 was finally deployed when less-lethal tactics were ineffective. The dog jumped through the open window on the car's driver's side to subdue the suspect.

Officers then took the suspect into custody, and he was taken to the hospital.
