MILFORD, MI—Lost and nearly frozen to death, this pooch is now a member of a local police department.

Officers from the Milford PD say they found this little guy late at night on February 1st after receiving a call about a lost dog on the south end of the township.

They say officers found him on a random porch in sub zero temperatures with no tags and no chip, so they brought him back to the station.

“During his visit to MPD, we could see he was mild mannered and sweet,” Police wrote on Facebook.

After a search for his owner turned up nothing and multiple posts on social media went unanswered, police turned him over to animal control.

“He spent about a week at the shelter. We kept tabs on him while he was there hoping to hear someone claimed him. A week later, still nothing.

Milford Police ended up making the dog one of their own and officially adopted him, naming him Lil’ Craig.

“Today, Lil’ Craig is a cherished member of MPD. He’s trying to figure everything out, and so are we. He’s recovering from some medical procedures, but adapting well.”

Milford Police say the vet believes Lil’ Craig is around 9 years old. He’s missing a few teeth, his ears won’t stand up and he doesn’t hear very well.

“We’re going to give this old guy the best home we can. His personality is already bringing smiles and some needed stress relief to our staff.”

Police say Lil’ Craig will live at the station and already has a run of the place.

Police are thanking Oakland County Animal Control, Premier Pet Supply Milford, and Dr. Carrie Tokar of VCS Milford for their help.
