MILFORD, CT—A police body camera captured the moments a driver and passenger were saved from a car stuck in flooded waters last week.

Authorities received the call reporting the car became disabled with two people inside it and began filling up with water, police said. Both victims also reported that they were unable to open or unlock the doors, police said.

Video shows an officer running through the waters to the car and using an emergency car window breaking tool to smash open the driver's side window. It shows within seconds, the glass window shattering, allowing access to inside the vehicle.

The officer was safely able to get the passenger side door open, and help its person out of the car, the video shows.

Video shows the driver of the vehicle then got out through the passenger door and was then led to safety through the knee-deep water.

Police reminded people to never drive through flooded roadways and to be careful under bridges and overpass areas.

"If possible, avoid driving all together as visibility will be poor and hazards are extremely likely," police wrote. "Please use caution and help keep yourself, your community, and your first responders safe!"
