Texas Police Bodycam Shows Residents Evacuated During Motel Fire

Two police officers were hospitalized and a resident was burned while officers evacuated about 150 people from a motel fire.

  • A resident was injured and about 150 people were displaced after a fire broke out at a Studio 6 motel in White Settlement on Thursday.
  • Police bodycam footage shows White Settlement officers evacuating residents as firefighters battled flames that engulfed two third-floor units.
  • Two officers were hospitalized for evaluation because of possible smoke inhalation.

“Both officers are doing well and are in good spirits,” White Settlement police chief Christopher Cook said. “I am pleased to report that they are receiving excellent care from medical professionals.”

Several other residents were treated at the scene and released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the White Settlement and Tarrant County fire marshal’s offices. The Red Cross is assisting affected residents.
