Watch Ohio Deputy Pull Over Santa, Mrs. Claus for Speeding
What to know
-
A Fulton County sheriff's deputy stopped a speeding Ford Escape driven by a man dressed as Santa Claus, who also had a concealed-carry permit.
-
Body camera footage from the deputy shows the deputy joking about the situation and issuing a warning rather than a citation.
-
The driver, who also had a passenger dressed as Mrs. Claus in his vehicle, said he was heading to visit his daughter’s office, and the deputy cautioned him to slow down because of deer in the area.
Police indicated on Facebook that the driver — who also had a parking permit for people with disabilities hanging from his rearview mirror — got off with a warning.
“Ho ho *hold on!* 🎅🚓 Santa and Mrs. Claus were spotted flying a little too fast through Fulton County,” officers wrote about the stop that occurred Saturday night. “No coal was issued—just a friendly reminder that even sleighs need to slow down. Christmas is still on schedule! 🎄✨ Stay safe and happy holidays!”
The unidentified driver explained that he was dressed as St. Nick to visit his daughter’s office, which is in the area. The officer warned the man dressed as Santa Claus to slow down because there’s deer in the area and the driver was moving faster than 55 mph.
Both the cop and the Clauses appeared to find the encounter jolly.
