A 28-year-old driver allegedly rammed an Illinois police cruiser at a traffic stop last week because he was "bored" and "he hates cops."
The incident happened at around 9 a.m. Wednesday when a Fairview Heights police officer had pulled over a vehicle for an expired license plate sticker, the department stated in a news release. While conducting the stop, a Chevrolet Camaro rear ended the officer's cruiser while he was out of his cruiser and slammed the patrol car into the previously stopped vehicle.
Following the crash, the Camaro's driver—identified as Keajion L. Jennings—exited his vehicle and began talking with the officer, which was captured on body camera footage. As the two began talking, Jennings admitted to drinking and consuming "weed pills" before the crash.
As Jennings continued to talk to the officer, he said that he had crashed into the parked cruiser because he was bored. Jennings also confessed to another reason for hitting the patrol car.
"I hate cops, man," Jennings tells the officer in an exchanged captured on body camera footage.
Jennings was arrested, and he faces multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The officer and the two occupants in the vehicle from the original traffic stop were not injured in the crash.
The Illinois State Police is investigating the incident.
