Atlanta police saved a passenger from a burning car after the vehicle crashed into a vacant gas station last week.
The incident happened shortly after 2 a.m. July 4 after police had tried to pull over driver who had allegedly been drag racing, WXIA-TV reports. The driver refused to stop and sped off, but the officers didn't give chase.
A short time later, the vehicle had crashed into an empty gas station, and the undercarriage caught fire. The responding officers quickly sprung into action and smashed the passenger's window and cut away the airbags.
Officers were able to grab the passenger through the shattered window and pull her to safety. As the flames began to consume the vehicle, firefighters reached the scene, and they were able to extinguish the flames and extricate the driver.
A search of the vehicle also uncovered a stolen car. The 24-year-old driver, who was taken to the hospital, was arrested and faces multiple charges.
