Corona police smashed a car window to rescue a distressed baby left alone in a hot vehicle with the engine off and windows up last week.
While the outdoor temperatures hovered around 95 degrees, the vehicle's internal temperature was roughly 110 degrees.
The baby was carried out of the car, but no details were released concerning the child's condition or any pending charges.
Police in California smashed a window to save a baby left in a hot car last week as temperatures reached over 100 degrees inside the vehicle.
The rescue by Corona police officers, which was captured by security and body camera footage, happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. June 17, according to a social media post by the department. Police were responding to a report about a child left alone inside a parked vehicle with the engine off and the windows up.
When officers reached the car, they shattered one of the vehicle's windows after seeing that the baby was in distress. Footage shows an officer unlocking a door and carrying the baby out of the vehicle.
Outside temperatures that day hovered around 95 degrees, according to Fox Weather, and the department said that a thermo-device measured vehicle's internal temperature at roughly 110 degrees.
No details were given about the health of the baby following the rescue. The department's post did not indicate if charges were filed stemming from the incident.
"LEAVE NO KIDS UNATTENDED," the agency's post stated.
