An In-N-Out restaurant parking lot in California's Central Valley was the scene of a recent police shooting that killed one man.
On May 1, a Lathrop man died of his injuries following an altercation with police outside the In-N-Out restaurant located at 1490 E. Yosemite Ave. in Manteca. The Manteca Police Department wrote in a May 1 Facebook post that the man rammed his car into three police vehicles during the April 30 ordeal.
On April 30, Manteca police were dispatched to the In-N-Out store to respond to a disturbance in the restaurant's drive-thru. During the initial interaction with the suspect, the suspect rammed his white van into a police vehicle, police said. Officers attempted to deescalate the situation for 20 minutes to no avail, the post said, until the suspect allegedly rammed his car into two more police vehicles.
Following the shooting, the suspect was taken to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries. No police officers were injured during the shooting. According to Manteca police, the suspect had an extensive criminal record in multiple states, dating back to 1972. The investigation is ongoing.
It's not the first time In-N-Out has made headlines for altercations at its stores. Last month, a mass brawl of 20 to 30 people, which involved gunfire, occurred outside a Murrieta In-N-Out restaurant. A month earlier, a 26-year-old suspect was arrested on March 9 following a prolonged police chase in Petaluma that started at an In-N-Out drive-thru. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of intoxication.
