Officials released body camera footage Thursday of a shootout that erupted at New York State Police barracks in April.
The gunfight, which left a 69-year-old gunman dead, happened shortly after 1:40 p.m. on April 8 at the police barracks in Malta. An man armed with a rifle—later identified as David M. Levine—fired several rounds at the outpost, and troopers exited the side of the building to confront him.
In the body camera footage released by the New York State Attorney General’s Office, syracuse.com reports, a trooper orders Levin to drop his weapon, but the gunman refuses.

Gunman with Rifle Opens Fire Outside N.Y. State Police Barracks

Troopers continued to try to get Levin to drop his gun and surrender, and he continued to refuse. Finally, Levine raised his weapon at a trooper, who fatally shot him.
In the footage, Levine is handcuffed, and he is rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The shooting is under investigation.
