Video: Md. Police Officer Struck Trying to Stop Car Driving Through Festival

Body camera footage captured a Laurel police officer as he attempted to stop a woman who began driving through a crowd preparing for a street festival because she said she had to get to work.
“And you decide that it’s a good idea to race a middle schooler driving a car? He’s 12 years old,” a Volusia County sheriff's deputy told a 17-year-old driver nabbed street racing a 12-year-old boy.
A Maryland police officer was struck over the weekend by a woman intentionally driving through crowds of a street festival.
The incident happened at around 9:45 a.m. Saturday as people were setting up for the Main Street Festival in Laurel, WRC-TV reports. In body camera footage, a Laurel police officer warns a woman not to drive through the festival area, but the woman said she had to get to work and began pulling down yellow police tape.
The officer offered to call a cab for the woman, who continued to ignore commands to stop. The woman then began driving through the festival crowd, hitting the officer in the process.
Police were eventually able to stop and arrest the woman. The officer suffered minor injuries and is excpected to recover.
