Watch Seattle Police Save Man on Tracks Moments Before Train Arrives

A Seattle police officer pulled a 57-year-old man to safety after he was experiencing a mental health crisis and fell 25 feet off a bridge onto tracks as an inbound train was on its way.

A Seattle police officer jumped on to train tracks to save a man having a mental health crisis moments before an oncoming train rolled through.

The incident happened just after 9:15 p.m. Oct. 7 when police responded to a report of a 57-year-old man standing on the ledge of a downtown bridge over tracks, the department stated in an online post. Officers tried to talk the man to safety, but he seriously injured himself when he slipped and fell 25 feet to the tracks below.

Police had requested trains to be stopped, but one train had already been en route to the station by the bridge. With the approaching train blasting its horn, an officer worked quickly to pull the man to safety.

The man suffered multiple fractures, and he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
