Watch LAPD Officers Confront Armed Woman as House Burns

Jan. 3, 2024
A 63-year-old woman armed with a handgun allegedly broke in to her sister's Chatsworth home and set the house on fire before she was fatally shot by LAPD officers.

The LAPD released body camera footage of a deadly confrontation last month between officers and an armed woman accused of breaking in to her sister's home and set it on fire.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 call from a woman in the city's Chatsworth neighborhood, KABC-TV reports. The woman told dispatchers that her sister had broken into her home and attacked her with pepper spray.

"Yes, my sister broke into my house, and she has a gun, and she pepper-sprayed me, and I'm locked in the bathroom," the woman said.

In body camera footage released last week, flames and thick clouds of black smoke can be seen coming from the house as officers reach the scene. The fire had allegedly been started by the armed suspect, identified as Lisa Davis, 63.

The suspect's sister was able to escape the burning home and make it to a nearby backyard, where officers got her to safety, according to KTLA-TV. She told police her sister was armed with a handgun, and she had last seen her in the backyard.

Police located and confronted Davis, who was carrying Walther P22, .22-caliber semi-automatic pistol. She pointed the handgun at officers, who opened fire and fatally shot Davis.

The shooting is still under investigation.
