Sept. 27, 2023
Body and security camera footage captures a struggle between a Seattle police officer and an armed robbery suspect, who tried to grab the officer's gun during an arrest.

Seattle police released body camera and security camera footage of an armed robbery suspect who tried to grab an officer's gun in a struggle during his arrest earlier this week.

The incident happened just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday when police responded to a robbery at gunpoint, according to the department. Two 35-year-old victims told officers they were walking home from a bar when they were robbed at gunpoint by two males.

After checking out security footage, police got a description of a vehicle connected with the robbery, and officers located it at a gas station. One of the suspects sped off when police reached the scene, but a second suspect was left behind at the gas station.

The second suspect tried to flee on foot, but an officer caught up to him. A struggle ensued, and the suspect unsuccessfully tried to grab the officer's gun.

The officer eventually was able to subdue the suspect, and another officer came to help with the arrest.

The suspect was identified as the individual who held the gun during the robbery, and a firearm was recovered at the scene. Stolen property from the victims also was recovered.
