Recently released body camera footage shows Kentucky police rescuing a woman who was kidnapped and chained to the floor of a house by a man who was arrested last week.
According to Louisville police, Jonna Wilson was embroiled in a dispute with Moises May on Aug. 14 that turned into a struggle, WDRB-TV reports. Wilson was held on the ground by May, who then used a machete to chop off her and struck her.
Wilson then left the house, but she returned Aug. 16 to retrieve some of her possessions. When she was back at the house, May locked her inside and kept the only key to the deadbolt lock.
While keeping her at the house against her will, May allegedly forced Wilson to partially disrobe and threatened to kill her if she ever left and didn't come back. He struck her again and brought her to the house's second floor, where he allegedly chained her to the floor. Finally, May left the house with Wilson's phone.
When May was no longer at the house, Wilson broke a window and began yelling for help. She was heard by neighbors, who called 9-1-1.
May was found by Louisville police, still chained around her neck and bolted to the floor. The house also was barricaded, with doors and windows secured so Wilson couldn't escape.
In body camera footage from the rescue, police and firefighters are seen working together to free Wilson. A ladder was needed to reach her on the second floor, and bolt cutters were used on the chains.
Police arrested May on Friday as he was dropped off at the house. He faces kidnapping and other charges stemming from the incident.
