Tennessee police officers fatally shot a knife-wielding man who was allegedly throwing debris at cars from the side of the road Saturday.
The incident happened at about 6 p.m. near the Davidson-Cheatham county border, WSMV-TV reports. Two Nashville police officers responded to 9-1-1 calls concerning a man on the side of the road who was throwing items at traffic and brandishing a weapon.
The officers confronted the distraught and agitated man, threatening to fight the officers. A Taser was deployed, but it didn't subdue the suspect, who began charging at one of the officers with a knife pulled out.
That's when police opened fire, fatally wounding the man. The officers performed life-saving measures until medics arrive, but the suspect died at the scene.
Body camera footage and 9-1-1 recordings stemming from the incident were released by the Metro Nashville Police Department. The officers responding to the call have been with the department since 2021.
