When a robbery suspect armed with bear spray ran out of a Washington sporting goods store carrying stolen items, he was greeted by the people he was hoping to avoid: the police.
Spokane police officers apprehended Spencer Media, 31, on Nov. 5, and he is accused of stealing merchandise from the store and threatening employees with bear spray, KREM-TV reports. He faces first-degree and second-degree robbery charges, as well as a count of third-degree assault.
On Nov. 4, Media allegedly went into a sporting goods store and tried to leave the business with a cart full of items worth thousands of dollars. When he was stopped, he threatened employees with bear spray and fled with an accomplice.
The next day, Media's unoccupied vehicle was spotted in the store's parking lot by police, and more officers were called in. Before police could arrest Media in the store, he came sprinting outside, where officers were waiting to confront him.
Media and his accomplice were then taken into custody.
