Watch Calif. Police Save Mom, Kids from Raging Floodwaters

Sept. 14, 2022
Body camera footage captured San Bernardino police officers creating a human chain to perform a swift-water rescue of a mother and two children from flash-flood waters.

California police officers saved a mother and two children from raging flash flooding over the weekend.

The incident happened at about 6 p.m. Sunday as storms from the remnants of Tropical Storm Kay hit San Bernardino, KTLA-TV reports. With the area under a flash flood warning, a mother and her two children became swept up in the fast-moving waters.

Once they reached the scene, the three police officers can be seen in body camera footage creating a human chain to reach the mom and one child. An officer also is seen carrying another child.

The officers, the mother and the children were able to get to safety. No injuries were reported in the incident.

“Our officers do not encounter swift water floods often, however it doesn’t stop them from jumping into action and saving lives,” the department stated in a social media post.
