Florida police officers helped save a pizza delivery driver whose car crashed into a canal last week.

The rescue occurred late Friday near Cedar in the Wood as flash flooding from a Nor'easter affected Volusia and Flagler Counties, WOFL-TV reports. A Pizza Hut delivery driver headed off a flooded road before plunging into a canal.

"She got a little confused and turned left directly into the canal because the water was level with the road," Port Orange Police Sgt. William Harrison said.

Three Port Orange police officers responded to a 9-1-1 call about the accident, and when they arrived at the scene, they discovered she was trapped inside the sinking vehicle. The officers waded into the canal and broke a window to pull the driver out.

"She was all the way underwater," Harrison told WOFL.

One officer cut his arm during the rescue, and the driver was treated at the hospital.
