You never know when you might run into a wanted suspect. It might be while you're taking a meal break.

That's what happened last month to two California police officers who were enjoying some Chinese food for dinner when they spotted a man wanted on a probation violation, and his apprehension was caught in body camera footage.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. July 17 as two Monrovia police officers were eating chow mein at a Panda Express restaurant, the department stated in a social media post that included the video footage. While they were eating, the suspect walked into the restaurant.

For the past month, police had tried to pick him two previous times, but the man had escaped during each attempt. The department included video footage of the suspect running onto the freeway both times in order to flee police.

This time he wasn't so lucky. The officers quickly got up from their table and handcuffed the individual.

"At this point, we’re not sure if it was good police work, bad timing, or the irresistible smell of chow mein," the department stated.

The man was arrested, and the bodycam footage showed the officers putting him into their cruiser. No details were given concerning his probation or how he violated it.

"And don’t worry the officers went back for their food and finished their chow mein. Priorities," the department stated.
