  • Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies arrested eight juveniles after breaking up a chaotic “TikTok takeover” at a Brandon trampoline park.
  • Body camera footage shows deputies ordering hundreds of teens to disperse before making arrests when commands were ignored.
  • Sheriff’s officials said the incidents drain law enforcement resources and can quickly become dangerous.

Florida deputies arrested eight teens last month when they broke up a "TikTok takeover" that had hundreds of kids storming a business, an incident that was captured in chaotic body camera footage.

The incident happened just before 8 p.m. March 21 when Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies responded to a call of a disturbance at Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park in Brandon, the agency stated in a social media post that included body camera footage. The onrush of juveniles overwhelmed the business, and the crowds spilled into the parking lot, according to the sheriff's office.

When deputies arrived at the business, they repeatedly ordered the juveniles to disperse. After those commands were ignored, deputies began taking participants into custody.

Eight juveniles were arrested for trespassing, according to the sheriff's office.

"We probably sent about 40 to 50 units there," Chief Deputy Joseph Maurer told WTVT-TV. "It is a resource drain for our community."

These takeovers are often been set up on TikTok, with participants swarming businesses in a chaotic manner. In some instances, fights are recorded.

The sheriff's office says 20 teens have been arrested in connection with three separate takeovers, according to WTVT. These potential dangerous situations have forced authorities to respond.

"If they’re going there to cause a disturbance, create a ruckus and create fights," Maurer told WTVT. "They have no reasonable reason to be there."
