• A 35-year-old man’s gun discharged during a disturbance call early Sunday in Chicago’s Morgan Park neighborhood, wounding an officer and an 18-year-old, police said.

• A bulletproof vest protected the officer who was shot, and a second officer returned fire, striking the alleged offender and “inadvertently” shooting the 18-year-old a second time.

• Investigators are reviewing the incident, and the officers have been placed on routine administrative duties for at least 30 days.
